Founded by accomplished South African journalist, Moipone Malefane, Vutivi News Foundation is a non-profit organisation with a clear mission—to empower and support recent media graduates in their journey towards securing internships that lead to full-time positions in newsrooms across the country.

Amy Musgrave
LEFTHOOK Solutions co-founder Amy Musgrave is one South Africa’s leading labour experts and analysts. Her keen insight into the political economy of development and labour issues was built during a career in journalism and publishing that spans two decades. She was recently the Group Labour Editor at Independent Media, where she oversaw coverage of labour and the political economy for the company’s multiple titles and digital platforms. She was also the founding editor of the Independent World of Work, a periodical with a heavy focus on the role of policy in economic development. Amy has covered the world of labour and economy for diverse media establishments, such as Business Day, Forbes Woman Africa, The New Age and eNCA. She has a wealth of contacts in the South African labour movement, the business and political fields, civil society and international labour and development agencies.

Lucas Ledwaba
Brief profile: Lucas Ledwaba is a journalist, author and founder of
Mukurukuru Media. He writes on issues of social justice, community
development, human rights, culture, heritage and tourism. He has been
awarded locally and internationally for his work in journalism and his books
on non-fiction have been nominated for national literary awards.
He is passionate about media training and the craft of writing, journalism
and photography. He regularly delivers lectures on various subjects related
to news and journalism.

Mahlatse Mahlase
With over two decades of experience, Mahlatse Mahlase is a seasoned content manager specialising in broadcast, online and social media platforms. Currently, she manage sthe Content Hub at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). Previously, she led content teams at prominent newsrooms such as the SABC, News24 and Eyewitness News. Over the past decade, I have excelled in management roles, focusing on curating accessible content and expanding audiences. She holds a National Diploma in Journalism from Peninsula Technikon (now Cape University of Technology) and a BTech in Journalism from the Tshwane University of Technology. As a passionate advocate for free expression, she was Chairperson and later Secretary General of the South African National Editors' Forum (SANEF). Notable achievements include being recognised by the Mail and Guardian as one of the top 200 influential young South Africans, and speaking at local and international conferences. She also has a vast network of contacts in media, government, business, labour and my community.
